Whitehaven Marina Slipway

The slipway is located between the Sugar Tongue and Lime Tongue piers.

Within the inner Harbour, speed should be reduced to around 5 knots or less so as not to create a wash.

Within the confines of the outer Harbour speed should be kept below 8 knots.

The cost of launching is £10 for up to 3 ski's and £20 for 3 or more. This is to be paid to the harbour comissioner prior to launch.

The slip located on the South side of East Strand.
Parking can be found behind the Standard Public
house in the Pay and Display car park.

When locking through the Sealock all vessels must:-

1) Hold themselves alongside the floating piers to avoid contact/collision with accompanying vessels and either set of gates.

When manoeuvring in the approaches to Whitehaven Harbour Rule 9(a) of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, must be adhered to:

" A vessel proceeding along the course of a narrow channel or fairway shall keep as near to the outer limit of the channel or fairway that lies to her starboard as is safe and practicable"

Likewise rule 14 (a) should also be adheard to.

"When two power driving vessels are meeting on reciprocal or near reciprocal courses so as to involve risk of collision each shall alter her course to starboard so that each shall pass on the port side of each other"
